At the end of May, I traveled to Peninsular Malaysia for a dedicated bird photography trip. This was my first trip focused entirely on bird photography. I spent 18 days in various locations around Kuala Lumpur, followed by three days at Fraser’s Hill.
One of the highlights of the trip was encountering a pair of Black-thighed Falconets together with three fledglings.
At Fraser’s Hill, I went birding with K.S. Durai, widely known as “The Birdman of Fraser’s Hill.” He is a legendary nature guide and ornithologist based in Malaysia, and also a truly wonderful person to spend time in the field with.
During my time there, I was fortunate to observe and photograph species such as the Rusty-naped Pitta and the Silver-breasted Broadbill.
In total, I managed to photograph 60 bird species. I observed even more, but was not able to capture usable photographs of all of them, including bee-eaters and woodpeckers.
